Baker Days | review & competition
Cake by post is a wonderful wonderful idea… maybe the best idea EVER.
So when Baker Days asked me if I wanted to review one of their letterbox cakes, how could I refuse!?
Baker Days is situated on the edge of Sherwood Forest and can safely deliver great celebration cakes everywhere in the UK. All ofthe cakes are handmade to order and use only the best and tastiest ingredients. No cheap alternatives, no preservatives, no funny stuff. That’s always ver reassuring to hear! They describe letterbox cake as “a small celebration cake for just two or three people. It may be small but it’s thoughtful and personalised.”. I couldn’t wait to try it!
It took me a long time to decide on what cake design to go for! There are lots to choose from on their website – cakes for every occasion; birthdays, anniversaries, hen parties. Even “just because” cakes with emojis! And you can upload a photo and have your face on the cake if you wanted to! I did think about doing that, but in the end decided on a simple and fun design.
As it’s small and flat, it does actually fit through the letterbox! It was very well packaged, and it arrived in perfect condition, in a cute little tin to keep it nice and fresh. The package even came with balloons and candles too, which I thought was a lovely touch. There is a card, in which you can write your own personalised message.
The design on the cake itself came out really well. I chose a rainbow confetti design, personalised with my friends name, as we were meeting up the week before her birthday with some friends for a playdate. It was definitely a nice surprise for the birthday girl! The icing was super sweet, so we found that only a small portion of the cake was needed each, so we cut the cake into 8 small portions. The vanilla sponge tasted fresh and was yummy!
It was unanimously decided that this would be a great last minute gift (next day delivery is available) and a delicious alternative to flowers! A lovely gift for a friend – why not send them a cake with your face on it to show that you’re thinking of them! Haha.
Happy Birthday Gill!
